[греч. thermo — тепло и лат. tolerantia — терпение; греч. mikros — маленький и лат. organismus — живое тело, живое существо]микроорганизмы, которые имеют высокий температурный максимум развития или низкий минимум и относительно безразличны к теплу. Т.м. представляют особый интерес для промышленного производства, поскольку обладают высокой скоростью роста и устойчивостью к изменениям температуры культивирования; они часто оказываются более конкурентоспособными по сравнению с мезофильными продуцентами в отношении инфицирующей микрофлоры (напр., актиномицеты — продуценты литических ферментов).Толковый биотехнологический словарь.
